What should I know before getting started with my first Botox treatment?
Being prepared for your first botox treatment will help ease the nerves and give you a good understanding of what you should expect! The utmost important tip prior to getting your first ever botox treatment is to get a consultation with a licensed professional that will help inject the botox. It’s also good to remember – some bruising is normal! In many cases, the way the needle is injected could result in slight redness, which generally lasts a few hours. Post-botox treatments need proper after-care! Botox usually lasts for around 3 to 4 months, so implementing proper after-care could help the effectiveness of the injections last longer, optimizing the wanted results. Here are some critical after-care recommendations, especially for first-time users!
- Avoid touching or applying pressure on the skin
- Go makeup-free for the day
- Sit upright for the first few hours to prevent bruising
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours
- Try to stay out of the sun for up to 24 hours
These tips are mostly used to help you ensure that you aren’t causing any irritation placed on the skin after a session, as it can get quite sensitive the first few days after getting your botox. Taking better care of your skin, in the beginning, can result in longer-lasting effects that will save you time and money in the long run!
What does first-time Botox feel like?
The question we’ve all been waiting for: What does botox feel like? Is it painful? Of course, it may be scary at first, knowing that botox is an injection to the skin, but it’s a lot less painful than one may think.
The whole process is used with fine needles that normally feel like a slight prick to the skin, similar to tapping your face with your nails. To ease your worries, even more, most clients end up feeling relaxed throughout the session as they don’t feel much of anything in the process. The good thing is that botox treatments last for around 15 to 20 minutes, so before you even start to feel discomfort, it’s already over!
